I love: The Walking Dead, yessir!

The Walking Dead Cast

Last year, AMC aired a 6 part mini-series of the cult graphic novel, The Walking Dead.  Nobody knew (especially AMC), on how successful this mini series got.  I’m a fan and as you know from my Shaun of the Dead post, you know I love zombie movies.  (Just a side note:  The Walking Dead comic book creator, Robert Kirkman, says that The Walking Dead is not zombies, but I’ll save that for another blog time.)

You can imdb on the plot of this story, but its the usual….guy wakes up from a coma to find the hospital deserted, only to come to the realization that something is not right.  There is no cars, no people, nothing! Finally a survivor finds him and fills in him that the world is now ruled by the Walking Dead.  After hearing this, he is determined to find his wife and son….blah, blah, blah…..find his wife and kid…..blah, blah, blah….zombie fight….blah, blah, blah….you get the point.

(L to R) Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, and Sarah Wayne Callies

I like all the characters and I think the reason why this show is good (besides good writing, plot, actions scene, etc) is the acting.  There is two actors in mind that is very dear to my heart.  If they were to die in the series, I would stop watching.

Rick Grimes played by Andrew Lincoin

The main character is Rick Grimes, who is the Sheriff, goes alone and tries to find his wife and son.  He is so hot!  Nuff said.

Glenn played by Steven Yuen

I heart Glenn!  Finally, an average asian, who is BRAVE.  No, he is not a super human kung fu expert or a computer geek, who can break into CIA main frame.  He is just an average guy, who can run fast and is not your stereo-typical Asian.   If it wasn’t for him, Rick Grimes wouldn’t be alive.

Here is a list of comic book characters next to the real life actors.

If you haven’t watch this show, check it out.  Currently, you can buy the first season on dvd.  Without these two characters, I wouldn’t care for The Walking Dead, but now I’m in love.

Who’s your favorite Walking Dead character?

Dexter and now Walking Dead? LOVE! Glenn is my favorite by far. I haven’t read the graphic novels, so I’m hoping he doesn’t die. I’m not a huge fan of the Sheriff’s wife, so we’ll see.

***high five*** Vicky, you are deemed cool in my eyes! Your right, the Sheriff’s wife is a little…..how can I say this nicely, whore-ish? Dang, the Sheriff is waaay hotter than his best friend. Or am I the only one that thinks that way?

I wanted to like this show, but I couldn’t watch it after in the opening sequence the main character shot and killed a little girl. A rotting, necrotic, zombie girl, mind you, but a little girl nonetheless. Too hard for me to watch.

I totally understand. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop there. You actually sound like Hershel, one of the characters on the show. He believed that this “disease” is curable and killing the walkers is a bad idea. Anyway, I digress. Thanks for your opinion, I really appreciate it.

I was convinced I would never like a zombie film, but Dawn Of The Dead changed my mind. Intelligent, poignant, humorous –

I wasn’t super-keen on Shawn Of The Dead the first time around, but second time it was on TV, I grew to like it more.

The rise of Simon Pegg is phenomenal.

I love Dawn of the Dead (original and remake). Seeing a zombie baby still makes me shiver. LOL It was creepily cute. That’s so weird.

Shaun of the Dead was the start of my zombie “obsession”. I agree, the rise of Simon Pegg. He is everywhere right now. I totally love that guy, ever since Spaced. Have you ever seen Nick Frost’s Danger, Danger: 50,000 Volts? It’s stupid funny, if you like that kind of comedy. They made a spoof on zombie hunting, that I thought was hilarious.

        Surprise!

Dawn of the Dead – original version – was in TV.

I thought it was so clunky it was funny.

I saw the bit where a zombie is grabbing the woman’s dangling legs as she is trying to get up into the ceiling space in a room where she is trapped.

I watched five minutes and then switched channels.

The remake was so much better – it turned the film into art!

HAHA! I totally agree. The remake is way better than the original. Shhhh, don’t tell the hardcore zombie fans I said that!

    I haven’t seen Nick Frost’s Danger, Danger: 50,000 Volts – until now!

HAHA, great clip. Isn’t Nick funny? I like how he makes little side remarks that pretty much makes the “expert” look stupid. Pure comedy!

I also like how there is real information in there, as well as the fun. I just need to pack my alligator tape next time I go traveling.

      • April 22, 2012 at 6:50 PM #

Remember to not zig zag when encountering a gator. LOL I love when Frost asks that question. Under all that comedy, there is actual information, I agree. I just have to stop laughing to hear that actual information.

I love Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Steven Yeun (Glenn)!! They’re my most favorite characters in this series :D

I agree!!!! Daryl and Glenn are my favorite. They are so cute and complex characters…plus, they are really really cute. LOL I’m excited to see what Season 3 is all about. I hope there is less talking and more action. Don’t get me wrong, season 2 was great, but more action, please.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.
