Music Mondays: My playlist 7/25/11

I wish I could embed a cool playlist, but wordpress is being very difficult with me.  So…I have to do it the ghetto way.  Forgive me.

This is some of the songs that I’ve been singing/dancing to.  Like always, this is in no particular order.

1.  Animal (Treasure Fingers Remix) by Miike Snow

I love this song.  It’s so easy and light.  I feel like jumping on a skateboard and cruise around.  I also love the Mark Ronson’s remix to this song.  Its like a reggae version.

2.  Sunset in July by 311

This is very appropriate for this month.  This is definitely a song to listen to while at the beach watching the surfers do their thing.  311 songs always makes me smile.

3.  Swoon (Boys Noize Summer Mix) by The Chemical Brothers

Thanks to Hulu, I’m obsessed with the Misfits.  Please don’t confuse Misfits, the tv show, with the Misfits, the hardcore punk music group.  I won’t go into the show, but all I have to say is watch it!  I’m a huge fan.  This is where I heard this song.  This song was playing during Season 2 Episode 2 right before the ecstasy/rave scene, when Nathan Young and his younger brother meet up with the group.

4.  The Final Countdown by Europe

Okay…WTF, right?  Hold on…lately, I’ve been watching a lot of Arrested Development, the show, not the band.  One of my favorite characters, GOB (kinda pronounced as Job) is a magician.  Anytime Gob preforms his magic trick illusion, he has this song playing in the background.  This song makes me giggle and smile more than dance.

5.  Echoes by The Rapture

This song is dedicated to my bloggie twin and fellow Misfiter, Tiera from Side Culture.  I first heard this song from Superbad.  They played this song during the dancing scene between Seth (played by Jonah Hill) and the girl with her period, which ended in Seth having period blood on his pants.  It’s gross, but funny at the same time.  Well, this is the theme song to Misfits.  Every time I hear this song, I just want to jump and dance my butt off!

6.  Skinny Love by Bon Iver

I thank Jenski for introducing me to Bon Iver.  Where have been all my life?  Anytime I want to escape to a different world, I pop in my earphones and listen to this song.  So beautiful.

7.  Make Love by Daft Punk

Most people are used to hearing Daft Punk in a dancing/electronical way and it’s rare to find romantic songs in this category.  I don’t know how Daft Punk did it, but here it is: a lovely, easy listening, powerful love song.

8.  Stupidass by Watsky

This Michael Cera lookalike is an amazing rapper.  Here is his youtube channel.  Every Monday, he does a remix or new song that he give free downloads.  This song came out a couple months back and I find the music video very entertaining.

9.  Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix) by Ellie Goulding

I’m a huge fan of dubstep.  I sometime think that I should’ve been born in London or something.  I love the way they speak and dress.  Their pop culture, like TV/movies and music, is awesome.  I love how magical Ellie Goulding’s voice is against the harsh industrial sounds.   Oh yes….Dubstep is so yummy.

10.  Magical World by Bassnectar featuring Nelly Furtado

If you are a Nelly Furtado fan, you will love this song.  Bassnectar took a couple of Nelly’s songs and wove it into one big song.  It’s so awesome.
