Tomorrow, my friend Illusyon, from Journey to a Healthier Me, and I will be walking the 2011 Susan G. Komen For The Cure. I briefly wrote about the Komen race on Ryan’s Fluffy2Fit page. For those who don’t know, Susan G. Komen or others might know it as Komen is the largest and best-funded breast cancer organization in the US. All over the country, men and women who has been affected by breast cancer, either themselves or by others, unite together for a 5k run. There are three types of people in this race. The first one are supporters to finding the cure to breast cancer. The second one is for people who survived breast cancer and the third are who lost someone from breast cancer and is walk/running on their behave. I am walk/running for someone who lost their battle to breast cancer, Helen Leidemann.
There is a handful of people I wish I could have met or bring back and Helen is one of those people. I have never met her before, but I am good friends with her husband, Mike. He often speaks so fondly for her that his love made me love her too. I joke with him that I am going to find him a great girlfriend, but secretly, I wish I could bring back Helen for him. Unfortunately, I don’t have those super powers…yet, so I am doing my part to keep her memory alive. I am proud to have her name on my pink banner that will be pinned on my back.
If any would like to make a donation for the cure, please click HERE to be redirected to the Susan G. Komen donation site. Every dollar counts. No amount is too small or too big.
Have you or someone you know been affected with breast cancer? Please share your story in the comments below.

Good luck today! My dad’s receptionist, who’s worked with him since I was in elementary school, battled breast cancer several years ago. The treatment took its toll, for sure, but she survived and is stronger than ever! I’ll be thinking of Aunty Lydia today
Awe….thank you for sharing Lydia’s story. I’m glad she is a survivor! **que Destiny’s Child music** The race was awesome. The energy was very contagious. I”m thinking about doing it next year, I’m definitely going to do Great Aloha Run. 8 miles, here I come!
