Virtual Vision Board

I’m a big believer in vision boards and since we are in the digital age, I figure I’ll make my vision board on my blog. True, I won’t be able to see it everyday, but I figure this would be a great way to show my friends and family what I would like for christmas.  A win-win.  So, this is like a vision board/christmas wish list.

1.  DSLR (Canon only)

I’ve always wanted a DSLR.  I would like to take more pictures for the newspaper, but I find that people don’t take a point and shoot photographer seriously.  I don’t blame them.  Also, I might take this camera to Europe, but since I’m constantly afraid of getting ripped off, I may not.

2.  Kindle Fire

I had an iPad 1 that my school provided for me.  The only catch was that I had to return it when someone else needed it.  At first, I didn’t mind, but now that it’s gone, I find myself wanting it back.  I am the first person to admit that the iPad 1 was too heavy and I didn’t use it much because I didn’t like typing on it.  With that said, I do love the iPad for the fact that I can read any book at any time or watch Netflix or Hulu.  Since the iPad 2 is around $600, I started looking for a ereader that allows me to read a book or watch a movie when ever I feel like it.  The Kindle Fire fits my standards.  Duel-core processor and price tag is what made me jump from a Nook Tablet to the Kindle Fire.  Unfortunately, I don’t know how the Kindle Fire is and the Nook Tablet could win me back after I start playing with it in the store.  But specs wise, Kindle Fire looks better.

3.  Money towards my Europe trip

Currently, I am in the red with my European trip.  My friend, Mike, was nice enough to lend me the money for ticket to Europe.  So, I owe him around $860.  My goal to pay him back no later than Jan 5, 2012.

4.  Moleskine Travel Journal

I saw this journal at Barnes and Noble about a month ago.  I fell in love with it.  I don’t understand the huge obsession with Moleskine and why it cost so much, but I like it because it remind me of Henry Jones’ journal from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  Yesterday, Barnes and Noble was all sold out, but they did offer to ship it here, but I figured that was a sign that I shouldn’t buy it right now.

5.  Rick Steves’ travel clothes line

Sorry for talking about my Europe trip a lot.  So, I’ll keep this short.  I need this to dry my clothes.  I saw it had good ratings on Amazon.

6.  Skin Care Products

I’m so lost when it comes to skin care.  So far, I’ve been blessed with decent skin, but as I get older I feel the pressure of gravity taking my beauty away.  Well, the lack of sleep, stress, and greasy food doesn’t help either, but I’m trying to change that as well.  When it comes to skin care, I feel like there is a lot of propaganda.  Try this for new skin.  No, try me for younger looking skin.  OH wait, try this other thing for baby skin.  After all is said and done, you have $400 worth of skin products that you have no faith in.  I’m starting to do my research on which skin care products to splurge on and what to buy at the drugstore.

7.  Self-Hosted Blog

I want make my blog into a self-hosted blog.  I think it’s about time to transition to the next step.  With that big step, I am taking on not only more responsibility, but more out of pocket cost.  I know I can do this.

8.  Anti Theft bag

I want something cuter, but if that’s all they have, I’ll take it.  I’ve been loving the cross shoulder bags and the one I have right now is a little too big, so I would a smaller one for when I…dare I say it…go on a trip.  Ugh, sorry.

9.  Belkin Mini Surge Protector/Dual USB Charger

My friend, Em, has this device and I fell in love with it.  I can have my own mini charging hub in my room or where ever!  This say in age, it’s hard to stay plugged in.

10.  Michael Kors Quartz in Rose Gold

Look at it…so pretty!  I’ve always wanted a Michael Kors watch.  Honestly, I don’t own a watch, so I think it’s about time to become a big girl and get one.

What are some “visions” are on your board?

The kindle Fire is really the only thing on my x-mas. I totally agree with the iPad thing, the cost is just too much. So being that the NY times and others say that the Kindle Fire is the first tablet to rival the iPad I would love one. I want it for the same reasons you do books, apps, portability.

At one time I would have said I would like a DSLR but not now. I have a Cannon point and shoot with 10x zoom and it’s all the camera I need. A DSLR would require learning more than I have time for at this point. I love my cannon and usually carry it on hike with me. I also carry my little camera that is waterproof and impact resistant for obvious reasons. So the Canon is stashed in my bag and only appears for summit work and the small camera usually is in my hand. That being said, I take like a million pics. That’s the beauty of digital, if it sux I delete it.

    TMI?

      Never TMI! LOL

After reading your comment, I am going to say no to the Nook. Why should I pay for more for it to do less (does that make sense?) The one thing I am afraid of it not testing the product before buying it. I wish there was a way, we could at least have the kindle in our hands. Maybe Best Buy might have it; I know they have the older Kindles.

I agree with you on the DSLR. Maybe it’s a little too advance and bulky, but my inner dorky techie is saying, “NEED, NEED, NEED” LOL There are some photos that comes out great on my point and shoot, but there are some that makes me want to throw the point and shoot across the room. I have a love hate relationship with my canon point and shoot. Also, when I take pictures with my P&S (for the school newspaper), I feel like people are judging me. I feel like they think I’m a stalker or voyeur, but with a DSLR, I feel like there is not judgement being passed on me. Maybe that’s all in my head, I don’t know.

Hopefully, I’ll figure it out before Black Friday.

i was eyeing that belkin charger earlier this morning and thought: what a brilliant idea!! i might pick one up too.
i have the same camera and it’s awesome! too bad i only know how to use one setting (auto). i really should learn how to use the different settings because even though it’s on auto, the picture quality is fantasticl

    • November 13, 2011 at 6:57 PM #

You should get the belkin charger. It’s great. I kept telling my friend, if your charger ends up missing, I didn’t do it (with a coy smile). LOL. It’s great for traveling say to Disneyworld! And you can’t beat that price. Okay, sell’s pitch is over.

I love your photos. Do you use the Ti for all your blogging photos? My photography professor said, the only way you will learn all the settings is by using them. So, you are on the right track. It’s hard to think on the fly, tho. But with practice, you will be just as good as those stupid paparazzi people.

I want the Kindle Fire and our giant family is pitching in together to buy one as a present for the Patriarch of our “clan”. He loves new toys. I’m just going to stare and drool in jealousy over in the corner whenever he uses it.

I have a DSLR (Nikon) and I STILL want to throw it across the room. I’m trying to learn how to use all the different settings but I miss so many great shots as I fumble around with it.

And skin care. I don’t even know what to say. I’m in the same boat as you. Such a frustrating process. If you find anything you love in particular, I’d love to hear about it.

    • November 20, 2011 at 1:23 PM #

Wow, he is one lucky guy! I would stare and drool, too. I would find a way to touch the kindle.

That’s my biggest fear. I worry about buying something so expensive and I end up hating it. There is a great deal at Best Buy during Black Friday for a Canon T3i that I’ve been wanting for awhile now. Black Friday frustrates me and there is no guarantee that I will get this camera, but I have to try.

If I see a good youtube video or an article, I’ll be sure to forward it to you. And if you find anything, let me know too! Thanks!!!
