Weekly Photo Challenge: Indulge

The Daily Post at WordPress announced this week’s photo challenge, indulge, which is all too easy for a foodie like me.

Every birthday, my dad takes me out for lunch.  I always pick sushi.  Once a year, I always order two piece uni (sea urchin) nigiri, but this year Hawai’i has a huge shortage, so I was unable to eat my $10 sushi.

My birthday lunch came with the typical ahi/yellowfin tuna (maguro), white ahi/yellowfin tuna (shiro maguro), and shrimp (ebi) nigiri.

Here are some melt in your mouth sashimi (salmon, ahi/yellowfin tuna, and white ahi/yellowfin tuna).  Salmon (sake) is my favorite, but I’ve been told that it’s not the safest thing to eat.

Lastly, a generous portion of tobiko (small flying fish roe), dried seaweed (nori), and sweet egg (tamago).

All and all, a great birthday lunch!

What’s your indulge picture?

  4. That looks delicious! I’d love to get more into eating sushi but being married to someone who won’t eat anything seafood doesn’t hasten that. Also two students with a mortgage – someday it’ll happen though!
    The pictures look great, too.

  5. Ok 1. Why is salmon not safe??? Omg that’s just about the end of the world for me. I love sushi and salmon is one of my favorites.
    2. My indulge photo would have to be my lavender cupcake photo I just posted about a week ago or so: http://rachelssymbioticlife.blogspot.com/2012/02/oh-sugar.html
If food wasn’t allowed, I’d have to run out with my camera and snap a picture of some shoes I like. I’ve got a serious shoe addiction problem that I never let myself indulge in because I’d go bankrupt if I did hehehe.

    • I can’t find the article that I read, but it was related to this new bacteria found on the salmon, even farm raised salmon wasn’t safe either. I still eat it. I never got sick. *shrug my shoulders*

Yes, I love that purple cupcake. I would love to see some shoe porn. LOL If there was no food, I would take a lot of pictures of my pets. I mean, even more than I do now. LOL

    • I love sake! I only drink cold ones, tho. I love the Trader Joe’s one, but we don’t have a store in Hawai’i, so the only time I get to drink it is on the mainland.

  8. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE sushi. It was the single most missed-thing during pregnancy. That and coffee. I nearly CRIED when my husband and sister ate sushi in front me (I allowed them to! But shouldn’t have :P )

    • I would cry too! I don’t know what I’ll do when I get pregnant and I can’t eat sushi. I might have to make a no-eating sushi rule. I’m not as brave as you. LOL
