Mixtape Mondays: Dream of the 90s (is the Life of Portland)

Since my 1983 mixtape was a success, I figured I should continue on to the 90′s.  Unlike 1983, I actually remember the music in 1990.  Here are some of my favorites.

1.  Poison by Bell Biv DeVoe

2.  Pump Up The Jam by Technotronic

3.  We Didn’t Start The Fire by Billy Joel

4.  Rhythm Nation by Janet Jackson

By a show of hands, who tried to dance like Rhythm Nation?  I did!

5. Blame It On The Rain by Milli Vanilli

Sure, they didn’t really sing the song, but it’s still iconic.  Well, maybe more infamous, but whatevers, I still like this song.

6.  U Can’t Touch This by MC Hammer

7.  The Humpty Dance by Digital Underground

8.  Just A Friend by Biz Markie

9.  Vision of Love by Mariah Carey

10.  It Must’ve Been Love by Roxette

***Bonus Video***

This wasn’t made in the 90′s, but it’s about the 90′s.

What is your favorite song from the 1990′s?

No ways, YOU saw Bell Biv DeVoe? That’s freakin’ awesome, girl! That must’ve been wild!

Isn’t it weird to hear a song and instantly be sent back into our minds on what memory we remember the most? I sometimes don’t remember the memory until I hear a certain song, then I have my A-ha moment.

LOVE THIS! I’ve been super down with the Jock Jams station on Pandora lately, so I’ve heard a bunch of these songs in the last week :) So good!

Jock Jams…I didn’t know they had a station on Pandora. That’s so cool. I am going to start listening to that station. Thanks!

Oh man, this brings back some memories (sshh, don’t tell anyone how old I am). I’d say my favorite 90s albums were Rhythm Nation (I loved Black Cat) and Nevermind by Nirvana, the entire thing. I still haven’t gotten over my crush on Dave Grohl.

Btw, I just started watching Portlandia and it’s so hilarious.

Tania, your secret is safe with me. We all know that you are only 24 years old, like me. LOL ;)

OMG, Black Cat! I loved that video. Oh, how I miss Nirvana and Dave Grohl is uber sexy. I love Foo Fighters, I always have them on my iPhone. I sometimes like to wear a huge flannel shirt and pretend it’s still the 90′s. LOL I’m kidding.

Isn’t Portlandia awesome! I just started watching season 2, they recycle a lot of the jokes, but they are still funny stuff!

Where do you get your play lists Jen? Did you have siblings at home that used to play pop music around the house? I’m the oldest of five and it cracks me up when my brothers talk about the “oldies” that was my teenage years’ music.

Usually, I just google top *enter year* songs and I just pick 10 that reminds me of that time period. LOL That’s my secret, shhhh, don’t tell anyone. LOL I’m the youngest, so I’m sure I’ve done the same thing to my brother and sister.

Oldest of five, uh? That must’ve been interesting household, did you feel like you had to set a good example. In my psychology class (back in the day), they said the oldest child tend to be very helpful around the house and the most obedient child out the bunch. Any truth?
