Weekly Photo Challenge: Through

This week’s theme is Through.  I took this picture awhile back.  There is nothing I really can say about this photo, except that it would’ve looked better without that building.

What’s your “through” photo?

Last week:  Unusual

Your comment about the photo made me smile. Next time you take the picture, just move the building out of the way. Lol. (You sounded so matter-of-fact, as if you could just rearrange things to suit the photo.)
It is still a nice picture, though!

I know! I should totally move that building out of the way. When I take a picture, I’m always thinking, “GAWD, I wish that person would disappear” or “Please bird, stay put right there!” LOL Don’t worry, I’ll take you there.

With or without the building, the photo is still beautiful. Makes me curious what adventures awaits beyond the building. I bet there’s a lot of sun and endless water fun. Thanks for today’s inspiration. Have a blessed day.

Awe, you are very welcomed. I sometimes forget how lucky I am to live in paradise. Beyond that building, there is a lot of fun in the sun. For some odd reason, there is a lot of wind in that area, so a lot of windsurfers are out there. As a (really bad novice) surfer, I get freaked out by the windsurfers. I’m always afraid they will end up landing on me. LOL

Come and visit with your little one. I’m sure he will LOVE it!

you are funny! i think it’s lovely the way the trees have formed an arch for one to look through. ;)

    • March 25, 2012 at 4:47 PM #

Thanks for the that lovely comment. I try to be funny as much as possible. LOL I really lucked out with the border.

Looks great, where in Hawaii is this photo taken?

    • March 25, 2012 at 4:44 PM #

Thanks! It was taken on O’ahu on the “Diamond Head” side of the island. Have you been to O’ahu before?

  5. March 25, 2012 at 6:29 AM #

    nicely framed :)
    what’s that in the distance?

    • March 25, 2012 at 4:42 PM #

It’s the “rich” part of town called Hawai’i Kai. It’s really beautiful. If you watch Dog the Bounty Hunter, his family lives over there.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my blog. I hope to see you again!

That’s a spectacular view beyond the building. Nice through shot. :-) You can view mine at http://wp.me/p1Cyea-1dU Thanks!

You know what you totally reminded me of? (sshhh…). My mom used to have a tool shed under the monkeypod in the back yard. When we built my place it affected the easement so we couldn’t consider a porch coming out the back (the view woulda been amazing) because she didn’t want to take it down. My BF later built her a new tool shed in a different area and she said we were going to take it down so I was envisioning a covered lanai to eat dinner outside, hang chinese lanterns, that kinda thing. But she changed her mind and only took the walls down (it’s too little to put an outdoor eating area in and still has one wall blocking the view…of the ocean. We hang laundry in it when it’s raining. But everytime I look out my big back window, I see that shed, then the ocean!

    • March 27, 2012 at 4:53 PM #

LOL. I liked your idea of a covered lanai, too bad you can’t do that. Well, if you were to do a covered lanai, would the shed block your whole view? Even if it’s a really small lanai, if you can fit a table of four, I say that’s good enough. LOL

I wished I had a lanai, too. Maybe when I get a “grown up” job, I’ll build one. I liked the idea of having an enclosed lanai (not for the views, because there is no views at my house) for cookouts and UFC viewing parties. One day!

Hi Jen! I’m loving these photo posts. Looks like such a beautiful day there! Even when I don’t think I have one to match the topic, I’m loving getting to see what you come up with. For “through” out of my photograph’s I’d choose this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rachels_symbiotic_life/6871020354/

Btw, this whole experience gave me some additional insight into the whole photo storage that I didn’t have before hand. I already had that photo uploaded into the google photo’s (aka Picasa once upon a time) but it wouldn’t give me an individual URL to share just that photo. It would only give a link to share the whole album. That’s not useful when you’re trying to share an individual photo. So I uploaded just that photo to Flikr which generates individual URLs – so much more helpful.

      • March 26, 2012 at 8:58 AM #

Aah, so Flikr is a little better than Picasa. Cool, thanks for your insight. I need to start uploading my photos onto Flikr.

I love your photo! I love how the blinds are “cutting” the light. Amazing.

Thank you for sharing…I love seeing other people’s photos.

Buildings are hard to move :) But nice that you tried to frame that mountain with the trees :)

    • March 27, 2012 at 11:29 AM #

UGH, but I really wanted to move that sucker. LOL Thanks. My photography skills are either a hit or miss. I guess this one was a hit. LOL

  10. March 26, 2012 at 2:05 PM #

Haha, cute. Building or no, it’s a cool through shot~ :) I prolly woulda just taken a picture of the hole in my head that connects my ears.

    • March 27, 2012 at 11:28 AM #

HAHA. I’ve done that a couple of times. I guess great minds think alike??? LOL Okay, maybe not great minds, but similar minds. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my blog.

  11. March 27, 2012 at 3:52 AM #

LOL That’s so true!! That’s a good perspective … Your photos are great. I like these weekly photos.

    • March 27, 2012 at 11:26 AM #

Thanks! I’m glad that you are liking it. Do you miss Hawai’i yet? I love reading your adventures in Japan. I wish I was there with you! LOL Enjoy yourself.

    Rabbit Island?

    • March 27, 2012 at 4:56 PM #

No, but that’s a really good guess. It does look like rabbit island, uh? It’s actually Kahala/Hawai’i Kai area.

  13. March 27, 2012 at 4:17 PM #

LOL, my eye was directed to the leafy canopy proving the ‘through’ but since you mentioned the building I can’t look away. I like the mountain’s shape contrasting with the straight lines of the building but you’re right, I’d prefer it sans building, too :)

    • March 27, 2012 at 4:58 PM #

Ya, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything. LOL It’s like when you have a pimple, you think people are looking at it, so you mention it. Only to find out that no one even noticed it until you said something…ya, it’s one of those moments.

Thanks for saying nice things about my photo. I really appreciate that. Darn that building, but I felt that photoshopping it away was cheating.

If I remember it right from my UH class, the essence of Japanese aesthetics goes like this: The beauty of the full moon is made better by the cloud that obscures it. So, according to that philosophy, the building actually improves the picture.

    • March 29, 2012 at 12:42 PM #

LOL. I like that philosophy. I guess the building doesn’t take away from the beauty of the skiyline.

  15. March 28, 2012 at 8:02 PM #

This photo still looks beautiful, with the building. :) Beautiful photograph.

    • March 29, 2012 at 12:39 PM #

Thanks! I really appreciate your comment. I’m still learning photography. Hopefully, I get better and not worst. LOL
