I wasn’t sure how to answer this question. My #1 motivator is my dad. He’s always telling me that I have all the opportunity in the world and that I shouldn’t waste it. Although, he is repetitive, I’m starting to appreciate his “pearls of wisdom”.
On the other hand, my #1 motivator is getting my degree. I am determined to get my masters, maybe even my PhD in Communication. Currently, that’s my biggest motivator in life.
Now I want to know, What is the #1 motivator in your life right now?

My motivator the past few years has been the increase in the cost of living in Hawaii; utility rates going higher and higher, cost of owning/operating a vehicle have gone up, and wages have been at a standstill. I REALLY feel that I belong here so I’m more and more motivated to hang onto my job at UH despite budget cuts, in order to continue to live here.
I believe that you were meant to be here too! Can I just rant for a moment? What’s up with HECO! Come on! Okay, okay…I should stop and let’s not start with gas prices. EEK!
I used to work for Student Life and Development. I hated working on the budget and having to justify every purchased we made. So, working with the UH budget cuts is hard, but I’m glad that’s not making you leave. We need people like you to stick with UH.
My dad was and is such a big influence in my life too, he always told me I could do anything I put my mind too. (and more importantly I believe him!)
I understand your closeness because I feel the same about my dad too.
It must be the Okinawa in us. LOL Nah, I think a child’s relationship to their fathers (and mothers) are super important. We would be such different people without them.
I sometimes feel weird having such a close relationship with my father, because I know some of my friends don’t have a good relationship with theirs. I don’t know, I just feel bad. Plus, I don’t want to brag or “rub it in their faces” with my great relationship with my dad. I don’t know, do you feel the same?
i guess it’s me. esp with this whole healthy thing i’m doing. i want to stick to something and see it through so i push myself. i’m always telling everyone that we all have the power to change something for the better so i’m taking my own advice!
Hey! Sorry for all this BS. WordPress just emailed me today. I’m kinda upset that it took them this long to email me back. Anyway, I’ll forward that email to you. I’m happy that you are back!
Good for you, girl. You give GREAT advice, so I think you should listen to yourself more often. Wait, don’t listen to the bad, but only the good! LOL
I’m proud of you girl, you’re always full of positives and you motivate me to continue to do what makes me happy and think of the future as a happyy bright place. you’ll get there in due time I know it! <3
Awe *tear, tear*. Thank you for those kinds words…that totally made my day. I can’t wait for the day when all our dreams come true!
My #1 motivator right now is turning 30 in less than 6 months. I have so many things I want to do before I hit the 3-0! It’s kinda silly, but it seriously motivating me to do some things I’ve been putting off
Not silly at all! I feel the same way as you do. I feel like the months are slipping away from me too fast. I only achieved two things on my 30 list.
I say you should make a list on your blog, so we (your readers) will keep you in check. I know you can achieve these goals and six months is somewhat a lot of time. Let’s do this!
Those are two good motivators. I didn’t know you were working toward your masters in Communications; that’s really cool!
Dream job (have we talked about this)?
No, I don’t think we’ve talked about dream job yet. Honestly, I’ve always wanted to work for the Travel channel, especially an Anthony Bourdian type show. Dang, that would be awesome! Or blogging has always been a dream job.
I know a couple of people who is finishing up their Communication Masters up at UH Manoa and they LOVE it. I was thinking about doing my masters over there, but I don’t know yet.
How about you, what’s your dream job?
Film director. I want to make feature films. I’ve wanted to for years now. We’ll see what happens. There are other things that make me happy too (like editing), but that’s still the goal for sure.
Awesome! I personally hate editing, because I want everything to be just right and usually it isn’t. LOL Maybe I’ll be your AD on a project. I can “check the gate” for ya, make sure there is no smudges on the lens. LOL That sounds like fun, no?
Absolutely! Maybe we’ll come visit and do some shooting for a film or two
Sounds like fun to me! It’s a done deal. First, we’ll take over Canada, then Hawai’i….after that Hollywood, baby! LOL
My blog is very motivating at the moment!
Oh and Nicole Kidman was shy and lovely, Keith was a total gentleman and really down to earth. Hugh Jackman was incredibly charming!
x
*squeal* That’s so awesome. I can’t believe you met all these celebrities…so cool!
I believe blogging is a great motivator. If it weren’t for blogging, we wouldn’t have met! LOL
That’s awesome your dad is a motivator!! My motivator is my son. I gotta keep up with him, literally!
Awe, that’s cute. One day, he is going to say the same thing about you.
