Jen’s Summer Movie Line Up (2012)

Summer has yielded some of the best movies of the year.  Granted, it’s mostly action movies, but Summer tends to be the premier time to show any movie.  I always like to make a list of some movies that I would like to see.  It rare that I actually get to see all the movies on my list, but I’m a list maker.  That’s what I like to do.

So, here are my Summer movie line up (July-Auguest 2012).

The Dark Knight Rises

No surprise here.  This movie has to be the most anticipated movie of the year.  From the beginning of Michael Keaton as Batman, I’ve always been a fan.  I can’t wait for the latest installment of Batman.  I’ve heard rumors that this won’t be the last Batman, but we’ll see.

The Watch

At first, I wasn’t interested in watching a movie about a Neighborhood watch group, but when I found out aliens were involved.  Well, that’s a movie I want to see.  Aliens taking people’s skin and these guys are going to protect us…oh boy.

Ai WeiWei: Never Sorry

During my trip, I kept on seeing this one poster all over Europe.  Ai WeiWei is dubbed as the “Beijing’s Andy Warhol”.  He is an artist who is controversial and motivated to share the truth.  In a country where freedom of speech is not part of their laws proves to be a little dangerous and violent.  This documentary shares Ai WeiWei as an artist, a man, and a government renegade.

The Bourne Legacy

I’m a huge fan of Jeremy Renner.  I just find him to be very believable as a spy.  There really not much I can say.

The Campaign

Finally, a movie starring these two fools.  It’s perfect time for this movie to come out, since it is campaign season.

Red Hook Summer

I first saw this movie on 3 Guys, 1 Movie.  This movie is about a middle class grandson is forced to live with his super religious grandfather.  They have a somewhat unconnected rocky relationship.

Premium Rush

Yum, yum!  In this movie, fixed gear is not over (Portlandia joke).  Basically, a mysterious letter wanted my the police (probably dirty cops, if you ask me) makes this one courier the most wanted man alive.

Lawless

Lawless is “based on a true story” of the notorious Bondurant Brothers.  During the prohibition era, the Bondurant brothers are in the bootlegging business in Virginia.  This movie is dubbed as a “gangster movie” and I just love gangster movies.

What a great list! You know a lot more movies than I know about! The Ai WeiWei sounds interesting! I might see Bourne, but I loved Damon so much! And I thought that was Daniel Craig — whoops!

    • July 12, 2012 at 10:37 AM #

HAHA. I love me some Daniel Craig. I thought there was supposed to be a new Bond movie this summer, but I guess I was wrong. I love the Bourne series too. I was so shocked to see Matt Damon in a kick butt role.

I really want to watch Ai WeiWei. I’ve never heard of him, but he totally captured me.

I have my ticket booked for The Dark Knight Rises – 8pm next Friday. Can’t WAIT! Oh my gosh – seeing posters everywhere now. Just ridiculously excited :D

I am so excited for you!!!! I can’t wait to read the review on your blog. I can’t go on the first night…booo….but I have tickets for another night. It’s going to be EPIC!

Nice List! I’ve only seen three movies so far this summer. Snow White and the Huntsman (good), Madagascar 3 (fair), and Brave (great).

    • July 12, 2012 at 6:48 PM #

I haven’t seen any of those movies. Come to think about it, I haven’t seen any summer movies yet. Yes, I didn’t even see Magic Mike, either….why should I pay, when I can see better movies?!? Let’s go and watch one of these movies….bring the family.

I was just thinking about you and how I haven’t read your blog in a while and then I realized I was logged into the wrong google account so I wasn’t getting your feed lol. Oh boy have we been watching movies this summer! We got Viggle on my phone and iPad (have you heard of it?). You log into tv shows and wrack up points that you can redeem for all sorts of stuff, iNCLUDING movie tickets :) So we watch a lot for free. Last weekend we saw Spider Man and it was soooo good! I can’t wait to see Bat Man and Bourne, and anything with Tom Hardy in it is a YES PLEASE!

    • July 12, 2012 at 6:46 PM #

Heyyy! Long time no hear from. You are still blogging, right? Or did you take a break? Anyway, I haven’t heard of Viggle and I just download it. Any chance of “earning” free movie tickets sounds like an app for me. LOL

I’m going to take my dad to Spiderman next week, so I’m pretty excited about that. You are the 4th person to tell me that the movie was good.

I agree with you on Tom Hardy. OHMYGOODNESS….aw…he is so awesome and attractive. I loved him in This Means War. Have you seen that movie? If not, stop what you are doing…yes, stop reading this and go rent it NOW.

      • July 13, 2012 at 8:18 AM #

Yep. Still blogging. I did some major surgery to my blogs, separating personal from business. So now SoPupuka.com looks like a legit website/shop/blog and my personal blog is now pupukalife.com. Basically I didn’t want new customers being scared off by a site that got too personal.

Viggle is awesome. We watched Avengers (3D), Snow White and the Hunstman (not that good) Spider Man, Brave, Madagascar 3, Battleship, Cabin in the Woods, Wrath of the Titans (hubs saw the last two by himself) ALL for free.

I LOVE This Means War! Talk about 1.5 hours of eye candy! Keola and I were ROFL the whole time. I’m really liking Tom Hardy as an actor. He’s done such a variety of roles. Added bonus that he’s such a hottie!

that’s a great idea of splitting personal and business blog. I really like your new blog. It’s cute, simple, and modern. Sorry, I haven’t been keeping up with your blog. Ever since the trip, I’ve been playing catch up. I’m amazed how much things change within a month or so.

I’m starting to use Viggle. I’m so amazed on how it can figure out what show I’m watching. That’s so cool.

Wow, you watch WAY more movies than I did so far. Then again, if I had free movie tickets, I would watch more movies. LOL

Watching movies is fun, but I would rather read which is why I spend my money on books rather then a movie. Can’t wait to see the Dark Knight with you. Batman is one of the super heroes that I am not super familiar with, so any flubs or wrongs in the movie I sure won’t catch which is good. My sister will probably want to hit the campaign along with my cousin they love Will Ferrell. Fourth of July they made us watch Step Brother and were quoting Talladega Nights “Shake & Bake” LMAO those two love love him. I loved those two movies too, but they are reciting lines and lines. I think that I will be going to watch Madea Witness Protection she loves those movies too. Crazies…well hope you get to watch as many of these movies as you can.

    • July 14, 2012 at 1:48 PM #

Don’t worry. The Dark Knight series is so much different then the original comic book series, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

My blogging friend is at Comic-Con. He sat on “The Campaign” panel and he said it’s going to be an awesome movie. Super funny. So, I”m kinda excited to see this one.

Honestly, I don’t know if I can watch all these movies. It depends if my dad can handle. He kinda gets tired easily. I think it’s because he doesn’t he enough.

You have a well rounded list of movies, action, comedy, documentary. My sister an cousin will probably all over seeing watching Will Ferrell cause they love love him. 4th of July they had us watching Step Brothers they were cracking up and quoting lines and then they were quoting Talladega Nights. My sister will probably want to see Madea Witness Protection case she loves those. Can’t wait to see the Dark Knight sadly Batman is one of the heroes that I don’t know too much about. But that mean I want be a tough critic cause if there are flubs in the story I won’t notice. See you soon.

    • July 14, 2012 at 1:34 PM #

I never knew your sister and cousin loves Will Ferrell. I think he is hilarious, but I haven’t seen all his movies. Ron keeps on telling me that I need to watch Anchorman. Step Brothers is so funny. I love the part were Dale (I think that’s his name) t-bags the drum kit. LOL Just thinking about it makes me laugh.

I can’t wait to watch the Dark Knight Rise, too. I am so excited!!!!!!! Let me know if Madea was good. I usually love Tyler Perry movies, but this one…I don’t know.

      • July 14, 2012 at 3:21 PM #

Dale is the one who owns the drums Brennan is the one who tea bags it. That movie is too much with the sister in law talking all that dirty raunchy and quite frankly a little scary shit to Dale. She crazy!

      • July 14, 2012 at 6:19 PM #

LOL That’s right…Brennan is Will Farrell. See, you know more than me. I love when the sister in law, Derek, and the family are singing in the car. OMG, she was NOT into singing. Love that scene too!

  7. July 20, 2012 at 9:14 AM #

Yes to all of the above! And I’m SO happy there are two Tom Hardy movies on the list <3

    • July 20, 2012 at 4:42 PM #

Isn’t Tom Hardy so yummy! LOL He is my newest celebrity crush. I just can’t get over him. Did you see The Dark Knight Rise yet? I think I’m going on Tuesday. I like to avoid the crowds as much as possible.
