Face value, this photo of “peaceful” is cliche. This may not be the most creative photography, but it holds a very special place in my heart. For me, photos are more about the memory than the actual likeness.
This photo was taken during my euro trip in June 2012. I was staying in a villa in the heart of Tuscany. The weather was sunny and hot (in the high 90′s). The hostel’s infinity pool was located down a hill through rows and rows of olives trees. The cooling water from the pool was absolutely heavenly. The stress of the big city (Florence) and the mishaps of traveling just melted away as my head dunked in and out of crystal clear waters. As I type this, I wonder what the pool is doing right now? Maybe hosting a pool party filled with backpackers from all over the world. Or maybe just sitting there unused and waiting for Summer to roll back around.
Another Photo Challenge is brought to you by MauiShopGirl. Come and join! Every Wednesday, Tania (aka MauiShopGirl) will be posting another photo challenge. You don’t need to be an expert photographer with DSLR. I took my “peaceful” photo with my trusty iPhone 4 and I’m far from an expert.

Oh my…. now I need a trip back to Italy. This is entirely beautiful!
@Scpardieck13: Yes! Go…now. Drop everything you are doing and just go. That’s what I tell everybody who hasn’t been to Italy. I just loved it there. Food is number one. Passion is number two. Having fun and not taking yourself seriously…always.
Thanks for stopping by.
I love the blues of the water and sky and that little pop of orange terra cotta. One day I WILL swim in an infinity pool. I know. Weird dream of mine, but I think they’re so cool. Awesome pic and description. I feel more peaceful just looking at it.
@Ihilani: Nope, not a weird dream at all. i think I had that same dream when I first saw an infinity pool on TV or something. It looked so magical, because the water just falls. I just needed to try it. Now that I did, I want one. LOL Once you fulfilled your dream….tell me about it.
I love this! It is so gorgeous. I’m kind of a relaxed traveler. I like to have downtime by the pool rather than being on the go the whole time. I really enjoy seeing all your pics and reading about your travels. I think it was a great decision for you to take that trip. You have memorries and experiences you will never forget! Mahalo for joining in Jen!
@Tania: I want to thank you for doing this! Seriously, if it weren’t for your challenge, I don’t think I would be back to blogging. So, thank you for that. Plus, I’m meeting all these new people, which is the number 1 reason why I started blogging in the first place.
The stack of rocks are cool, uh? I didn’t even see that until you pointed it out to me. That is super cool. See, I don’t have a great eye when it comes to my own photography.
Jus noticed the stacked rocks on the left. Pure awesomeness!
I love how you set your legs in the corner of the photo for composition. I love that the water just falls off the horizon. Very peaceful indeed and love the story behind it. Traveling is fun, but also stressful, and it’s great to really “be on vacation” and take a break!
@Lisa: thank, girl! I wish I could say that I planned that way, but it was all pure luck. I’m starting to learn more about composition, especially the rules of thirds in art class.
I think while on vacation, we, women, need a mini break from the break. LOL I try to take a long swim or (if I have enough money) a massage at the spa or something.
Love the photo and the description! Jut hopped over from the photo challenge.
@Have Teacup will travel: Thanks. I felt that maybe I didn’t push myself with this challenge, so next challenge I’m bring it! LOL Thanks for stopping over. It nice meeting you.
So peaceful! Man that blue water is just gorgeous!
(Passing by from the hop! Lovely photo!)
Blessings~*
@Larissa! Thank you so much for stopping by. I love these photo challenges, because I get to meet new people like you! The water was AH-mazing. It almost has a healing aspect to it.
Beautiful photos. The stillness of the water. So inviting!
@jaina: thanks! The water was totally inviting. I remember it being super cold, which was great because it was so hot. I wish I was there right now. LOL
Wow, that really is perfectly inviting and peaceful. The water’s the perfect shade of blue…
@Jeremy!!!!! Long time no hear…sorry, that’s my fault. I haven’t been a good blogging friend. I’m loving your new layout. Super cool.
thanks, that blue was much prettier in person. I wish I was there right now. It’s still hot here. Ugh.
Love it. This photo certainly embodies peace.
@Gwen: Thanks!!! I wish I was there right now. I need more peace in my life.
Hello love! I’m back from my hiatus, now where are you? Lol.
LOL…I know. I’ve been MIA. I’m glad to see that you are back to posting. I’m still trying to find my blogging mojo. Share some of yours….please. LOL
Nice legs.
Thanks!
Wow, I’m still waiting for the Euro to drop but would love to see Tuscany. I love that movie, Under the Tuscan Sun!
@Christine: Girl…go! You must go and have some stomped grapes and prosciutto. I love that movie, too. I often wonder if I could do that, go somewhere different and just buy a house (villa). Maybe if I was Diane Lane gorgeous, I could do it. LOL I also want to watch Eat, Pray, Love before I leave my southeast asia vacay.
