Goodbye Red Room of Pain. Hello alien pod people!
Are you shocked that we are not doing “Fifty Shades Darker”? The reason why we are taking a mini break from the Fifty series is because “The Host” will be coming out on the big screen on March 29th. We would like to read the book before watching the movie. Of course we all know that the book is always better than the movie, but we’ll see if that’s the case here. I’m excited! I hope you read along with us. For all you Fifty fans, don’t worry, we’ll be going back to the series after “The Host” is over. Unlike our last book, we will be reading much slower. I anticipate, at the most, 5-6 chapters per week. Illusyon worked hard on the schedule and timed it, so that we end the book on the week the movie comes out! If you would like our book series Google calendar, let us know and we will link it up to you.
About the book:
“The Host” is a science fiction/romance novel (also known as paranormal romance) by Stephenie Meyer. The novel introduces an alien race called Souls, which takes over the Earth and it’s inhabitants. The book describes one Sou’s predicament when the mind of her human host refuses to cooperate with her take over. ”The Host” released on May 6, 2008. (Per Wikipedia)
My first impression:
I have no clue what this book is all about. I have no expectations whatsoever. I know this book has something about aliens taking over human bodies. I’m assuming there is some kind of romance since this is written by Twilight’s Stephenie Meyer. The only thing I’m expecting is some teen angst romance. I’m not too excited about read this book, because it’s so huge. I am, however, looking forward to comparing the book and movie against each other. That should be fun!
Here is the trailer to the movie that is coming out.
We are giving everyone ONE week to buy the book. On Sunday, January 20th, we will announce the reading assignment, so be sure you check back.
What’s your first impression of “The Host”?
You can leave a comment below or a link to your blog post (if you plan on blogging about it).

Please send me the Google Calendar link unless it’s going public on Sunday. My first impression is “written by the same author that wrote Twilight, oye…” Maybe I’ll borrow it from the library
.
@Lisa: I edited your comment and removed your email address. I figured…”just in case” or “you’ll never know” if someone uses your email for spam purposes. I hope that’s okay.
I just sent you the google calendar. Let me know if you didn’t get it. I hope you found a copy of “The Host” at the library. To me, it seems like a long book about aliens. Hopefully, it’s a fast read. We’ll see right. LOL Thanks for joining…I’m so happy that you did.
No problem. Tks for deleting it! And I got the calendar. Tks! I plan to go to the library this weekend to get it.
@Lisa: Great! We are not going to change the deadlines, but if there are any changes, we’ll let everyone know via our blogs. I can’t wait for all of us to start!
And if you change it on the calendar, I get the update.
@Lisa: True!
