{Book Club} The Host: Reading Assignment

the host

Happy Sunday!  Last week, I announced that we will be reading The Host, which is where I shared my first impression of this book.  My 3L’s Book Chit Chat co-founder, Illusyon, wrote her first impression as well.  We both have totally different impressions of this book, which I’m not shocked about.  If you haven’t wrote your first impression yet, feel free to comment or blog about it when you have a chance.

Why do we do a first impression?

Illusyon brought up a good point with writing our first impressions, because often times, our expectations about a book becomes totally different from the start to the end of a book.  I’ve read books where I’ve thought I would love it, but ended up feeling “meh” about it.  Often times, if I don’t write my first impressions, I can’t remember how I truly felt about this book before I picked it up.

Reading Assignment:

We are giving everyone ONE week to read the Prologue through Chapter 6.  On Sunday, January 26, 2013, we’ll come back here and answer the discussion questions.  You have the option to comment on this blog, Illusyon’s blog, or on your blog.  If you plan on blogging on your blog, feel free to leave a link down below, so everyone can go see it!  Illusyon and I will have totally different discussion questions, so I HIGHLY suggest that you check her blog as well.

Rules:

Please check out my book club information page for all the details.

Enjoy and happy reading!

Definitely true that first impressions are not always true. Hope to be knocked on my feet! Question, why do you have Illusyon have different discussion questions? How come you don’t post those questions beforehand so we can post simultaneously? Or was your idea that we discuss the book on each of your respective blogs? Thanks!

@lisa: Illusyon and I have very different opinions. Sometimes I wonder how we get along so well, because our thought process and opinions are so different, but for whatever reason we work well together. LOL I think the main reason why we have different questions is to encourage my readers (like you) to visit her blog as well. I didn’t want it to be boring to answer the same questions on both our blogs. I’m trying to get Illusyon more followers. Frankly, she is a better writer than me, so why she doesn’t have a lot of followers are beyond me.

I wish we could post questions beforehand with the Host, but when we re-start 50SOG, it will be in advance and be on one blog, since Illusyon and I will be traveling together for a month.

You are right, different discussions on different blogs, different perspectives. I love it! I look forward to reading from both of you. I am following Illusyon’s blog (she needs Twitter! Hehe). How cool you are traveling together! Opposite personalities attract, ya know, even in friendships.

I just saw this at costco but didn’t buy it because I had to check if my sister gave me a copy (this is the twilight author, right).

What a great idea to keep you reading by hosting this book club! I host the photo prompt linkup for the same reason. It’s a prompt for myself that I basically just offer up to everyone else too.

@Tania: Yups, The Host is the same writer as Twilight.

I love your photography link-up. I just wished I had time to do them, but I still comment anyways. i figured it’s the least I can do to support your photography link-up. If you are still doing it during Spring Break, I would love to join. No pressure to do so. LOL

I started reading this book, but I couldn’t get into it…..I mean that’s happened to me with books that eventually I end up finishing and loving, but I haven’t been in the “reading mood” for a while. Are you liking it/ did you like it?

@Dary of a Mad Crafter: I’m actually cheating a little bit. I’m listening to the audiobook. I know what you mean with losing interest with a book. When that happens to me, I go straight for the audiobook. 9/10 times it’s free at my local library. Usually, I can stick with a book when it’s in a audio format. Is that still reading….I guess not, uh? LOL So far…ya, I like it. it’s different than Twilight, which is good. I’m interested to see how the movie comes out!
